I’m going to say it until it’s not the truth, I rarely speak in California. I love when I get to do it! Travel is easy and it’s my home state! You would honestly think that the majority of my speaking engagements come from California, sadly, they do not. I love traveling across the country anyway so it’s not like it kills me that i’m not speaking more in Cali. When you follow the group of guys that are in the substance abuse speaking and mental speaking space, not many at all are spending lots of time in California. I’ve been pretty vocal but I honestly think that California schools might be towards the top of the list when it comes to preparing students for life outside of reading, writing and arithmetic.
I was excited as I always am to get a inquiry from California and what a great spot I was able to visit. The schedule was extremely tight because I was literally in Washington D.C the night before and took the red-eye back to California to be with the students at Cathedral Catholic. I literally got off the plane, picked up a rental car, drove to the campus and it was almost time to speak. The campus was extremely beautiful and the gym where they packed the house with students was very nice! Nicer than any gym I got to be in growing up. Since the campus was a Catholic school I was able to share pieces of my faith when the students which really is my favorite thing to do. The students were extremely focused and had tons of great questions for me during Q&A. The staff was really impressed with how things worked out as well. I’m thrilled we were able to make things work for their students! I hope that we get a chance to work together again in the future.
