Every now and again, there is something that makes an event different just a little more unique than the others. My event in Terre Haute with the Mental Health America of West Central Indiana was definitely one of them. Terre Haute was a small place in comparison to places like Indianapolis, with a population of about 90,000 people. My substance abuse speech was set to take place in the old Indiana Theater, which is on the historical landmark list, I am told.
What made this event unique? It's operators. I gotta say that this group with MHAoWCI was something else. These were a dedicated group of individuals that put in HOURS to get this event done. I don't recall being apart of an event where the team put in such work for a community event. It wasn't just flyers, it was billboards, internet, businesses, schools, etc etc but most of all it was people with passion. I can't say enough about this group, they really did an amazing job.
The event offered food and drinks, a photo booth for pictures after the event and the theater was a site to see. This was not your ordinary event in any way. My speech was well received amongst the crowd that exceed 3 to 400 people. There were plenty of questions after to answer, we had o cut them short because of time. I had an awesome time in Terre Haute and working with MHA staff. I really am grateful for that opportunity and extend a huge thank you to the crew for all their hard work and letting me deliver my story in their community!
